Q & A with Dr. Pavel Ivashchuk

For Dr. Pavel Ivashchuk, being a dentist means he can alleviate pain for patients. After graduating from Temple University with a bachelor's in biochemistry, Dr. Ivashchuk attained a dental degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. He was among the few selected for an implant clerkship program, where he learned to restore and place dental implants.

Dr. Ivashchuk also received the Harry E. Latchman Memorial Award for Excellence in complete oral operative restoration and awards from the Academy of Osseo integration and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists for his great interest and work in implant dentistry. Learn more about Dr. Ivashchuk in the Q & A below.

What is your hometown? 

"I was raised in Steelton, PA. My current hometown is Dillsburg, PA."

Do you have family also in the medical field?

"Patient care runs in my family – my sisters are nurses and hygienists, and my sister-in-law is a NICU doctor."

What inspired you to become a Dentist?

“When I was eight, I needed a root canal for an abscessed tooth. I was in a great deal of pain after the root canal, but the dentist was able to take my pain away. It gave me a life-changing perspective on what a dentist can do. I wanted to do for others what my dentist did for me and take their pain away.” 

What do you enjoy most about being a dentist? 

“I like helping patients and alleviating any pain they're experiencing. I enjoy interacting with patients and helping them build confidence in their smiles. I also enjoy learning new things.”

When did you join the Gettysburg Dental Associates team?

"I joined the team in 2016 – I started my career here!"

“Our staff is incredibly supportive. We also use the latest technology to help our patients.” 

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? 

“I grew up as one of eight children in a large Ukrainian family in Steelton, PA, so I value time with my family and friends. I enjoy attending church with my family, going to the park with my son, Matthew, and hiking with my wife, Nadia. I also enjoy riding my bike and playing volleyball.”
